Over half of the girls from Chardeh and Zarin passed the University test

Education can achieve miracles even in the remotest areas of the world such as the central highlands of Afghanistan, in the mighty Hindu Kush massif region. Our success story takes place in the Yakawlang district of Bamiyan province.

Comitato Arghosha is in fact very proud to announce that about half of the girls attending grade 12 of Zarin School (pictured above) and Chardeh School (pictured below) passed the admission test to the State University (so called Kankoor ) in the school year 2013.

The most amazing results came from Chardeh Girls (a class of grade 12 is pictured below during the spring of 2013). Out of 64 students who attended the State examination, 38 passed successfully. It is a success rate of 60%, of which we are very proud. Our congratulations go to the headmaster and all the teachers of the school whose effort brought such good results!!!

Zarin girls have also scored relatively well, taking into account that the school was rebuilt in stone masonry and refurbished by Arghosha in 2011, almost 3 years later than Chardeh, which was built in two phases in 2008/2009. Zarin girls (pictured below while receiving school stationery  from Arghosha Committee and Shuhada Organisation) managed a success rate of 45%, almost one in two. In fact 36 students out of 59 passed the Kankoor.

In total out of 123 girls of both schools who attended the exam 64 successfully passed. The success rate of all girls was therefore 52%, an impressive result taking into account that the girls have got better facilities where to study only in the last few years and before they had to work in mud constructions with poor furniture and teaching material. Arghosha is very proud for its contribution to both schools not only by funding the masonry works but also teaching materials such as the new library of Chardeh (see picture below) and a new one in Zarin just inaugurated.

We are confident that given the good results the enthusiasm of the students who are growing in number will grow as well and bring more and more success.
